CT Imaging (Computed Tomography) is an advanced diagnostic tool that provides detailed, 3D images of your pet’s internal structures. This technology allows our veterinary team to quickly and accurately identify conditions affecting bones, joints, organs, and soft tissues. CT scans are especially useful for complex cases, helping guide precise diagnoses and more effective treatment plans—all with minimal discomfort for your pet.

WHAT IS A CT SCAN?
A CT (Computed Tomography) scan is an advanced imaging tool that uses X-rays to create detailed, cross-sectional images of your pet’s body. It allows our veterinarians to see bones, soft tissues, and organs much more clearly than standard X-rays.

WHY WOULD MY PET NEED A CT SCAN?
CT scans are recommended when we need a more in-depth look to diagnose conditions such as tumors, internal injuries, nasal or sinus disease, spinal issues, or complex fractures.

HOW IS A CT SCAN DIFFERENT FROM AN X-RAY?
While X-rays provide a flat, two-dimensional image, a CT scan produces detailed 3D images. This gives us a much more accurate and complete understanding of what’s happening inside your pet’s body.

IS THE PROCEDURE SAFE?
Yes. CT imaging is a safe and commonly used diagnostic tool in veterinary medicine. We take every precaution to ensure your pet’s safety and comfort throughout the process.

WILL MY PET NEED TO BE SEDATED?
Most pets require light sedation or anesthesia to keep them still during the scan. This ensures clear images and a stress-free experience for your pet.

HOW LONG DOES THIS SCAN TAKE?
The scan itself is very quick—often completed in just a few minutes. However, including preparation and recovery time, your pet may be with us for a few hours.

WHEN WILL I GET THE RESULTS?
In many cases, we can review initial findings the same day. A full evaluation may be completed shortly after, depending on the complexity of the case.

IS CT IMAGING AVAILABLE ON-SITE?
Yes! Our in-house CT machine allows us to provide faster diagnoses without needing to refer you to another facility.

IS CT IMAGING PAINFUL FOR MY PET?
No, the scan itself is completely painless. If sedation is used, your pet will be relaxed and comfortable throughout the procedure.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE MY PET FOR A CT SCAN?
You may be asked to withhold food for several hours prior to the procedure if sedation is required. Our team will provide you with specific instructions ahead of your appointment.
